Forward signed from Newmills in 1905, he made little impact at Meadowside for Partick Thistle and was loaned to Ayr Parkhouse in February 1906. On his permant release from Thistle he signed for 2nd Division Vale of Leven scoring over 16 goals and earning himself a move to Southern League West Ham United , where he remained until 1909.
