An much traveled inside-forward who signed for Thistle in 1900. Press reports at the time said he was showing promise: "His passing is highly spoken of, and it is predicted that he will prove a decided acquisition" but after only 6 appearances for Thistle he was again on the move to Southern League Watford. He had started his career at Beith before moving to Morton in 1896 this was followed by moves to Sunderland, Preston North End, Nott's County, Beith, Thistle, Watford, Tottenham Hotspur, Swindon Town, Norwich City, Bristol City, Beith, Clyde and a final spell at Beith in 1911.

He made 74 (Scottish) league appearances (6 at Thistle), Scoring 25 goals all at Clyde.
He made 99 Southern League Appearances, Scoring 22 goals.
He made 64 (English) league appearances, Scoring 10 goals.

He won the North Ayrshire cup while at Beith.
