BALLANTYNE, Thomas
Outside right who signed for Partick Thistle from Bellshill Athletic on the 17th December 1907. He made his Thistle debut 3 days later at Meadowside against Clyde in a 3-1 win in the 1st Division, he also grabbed Thistle’s 2nd goal. Season 1907-08 was eventful for the Jags as they played there last ever game in the Burgh of Partick having been forced to sell Meadowside to make way for Henderson’s Shipyard, Ballantyne played in this game a 1-1 draw with Hibernian. The following season seen Ballantyne miss only 4 of 39 1st XI games but the nomads finished bottom having to play ‘home’ games at Ibrox, Celtic Park and Shawfield. Season 1909-10 see him play in the opening game of a Firhill a 3-1 victory over Dumbarton Harp in the Scottish Qualifying Cup. He left the club helping the Jags finis third from bottom above the Inverclyde duo of Morton and Port Glasgow Athletic. In season 1911-12 he was playing with Dunfermline Athletic before signing for his hometown team Armadale.
