Hard working left back who joined Partick Thistle from Armadale Thistle in 1955. Douglas made his league debut on the opening day of the league season in a 1-1 draw at East End Park with Dunfermline Athletic. His only goal for Thistle came in a 2-1 defeat to Third Lanark at Firhill in 1957. In 1959 he received international recognition first representing a SFA XI that drew 3-3 in Aarhus against Jutland and then playing for the Scottish League in a 4-1 win over the League of Ireland at Dalymont Park, Dublin in September. In his final full season with the Jags he made it to the Glasgow Cup and Glasgow Charity Cup Finals, unfortunately Thistle lost both to Rangers. He moved to Nottingham Forest for £10,000 in September 1960 but by 1963 he had moved to Plymouth Argyle were he would go on to make over 150 appearances in five seasons scoring the 1 solitary goal in his final season with The Pilgrims. He remained in the south for one more season playing for Tavistock Town in the South West League. He returned to the Falkirk area in 1970 and after a short spell with Hamilton Academical he would manage Dunipace Juniors, by 1990 he was the under 18 coach at Stenhousemuir. He passed way in November 2002.
