Full-Back. Signed from Hibernian in August 1918, he had previouslay played with Broxburn Shamrock, East Fife and Cowdenbeath. He made his Jags debut later that month in a 1-0 over Ayr United at Somerset Park. Walter’s greatest day in a Thistle jersey came on the 16th April 1921, helping the Thistle underdogs defeat favourites Rangers 1-0 at Celtic Park, his place in the final only came about when regular left-half Willie Hamilton failed a fitness test. Just over a year later, Walter left Firhill to try his luck in England with spells at Bristol City and Hartlepool United but by 1923, he had returned to Scotland to Nitsdale Wanderers.
