ARROL, John
born. 1946
Bishopbriggs based experienced goalkeeper who was one of Bertie Auld’s first signing in January 1974 from Dunfermline Athletic for £3,000. Initially brought to Firhill as a understudy to Scotland keeper Alan Rough he managed to make 18 appearances for the first team in 1974-75. He left Firhill and moved across Glasgow to Clyde where in three seasons with the Bully Wee he made 90 league appearances helping them to promotion to the 1st division in 1979. He also had seen service with Duntocher Hibs, East Stirling, ES Clydebank, Dundee and St Johnstone. His last league appearance came for St Johnstone against Dunfermline Athletic in October 1979, the following season he returned to Clyde as youth team manager.
He was appointed chief scout of Partick Thistle in 2004. His son Andy played in goals with Glasgow School's, Oldham Athletic, Stenhousemuir and Clydebank he also had a trial period with Thistle in July 1987.
