He made his 1st team debut in a friendly at Balintore (pictured right), scoring in a 3-1 win, he found first team opptunnities hard to come by despite scoring regular for the under 18’s, and reserve sides. He joined Sligo Rovers in the league of Ireland in October 1992 on loan but failed to find the net in his 4 appearances, but he must have shown former Thistle player then Sligo manager Willie McStay enough; on his release from Firhill in the summer of 1993 he made the move to the recently relegated Rovers permant despite interest from Ayr United. His time in Ireland he helped the bit of red to promotion winning the 1st Division in his first season and banging in 10 goals making him their top goal scorer of 1993-94; as well as the league title they also lifted the F.A.I Cup & 1st Division Shield despite a change of manager with future Northern Ireland boss Lawrie Sanchez replacing Celtic bound Willie McStay. The goals kept coming in Ireland for him and his manager arranged a trial for him with English premiership side Wimbledon in March 1995. He left Ireland and returned closer to home and signed for 2nd Division Clyde making 64 appearances in the 2nd Division and scoring 42 goals for the bully wee. A fee of £60,000 took him to Dens Park Dundee, and in his first full season on Tayside he helped Dundee win the 1st Division and promotion to the Premier League. He found goals harder to come by at this level but managed a respectful 13 goals in 56 league appearances. In July 2000 he surprised many by moving to 1st Division Ayr United under freedom of contract (along with James Grady), his time with in Ayrshire he managed just under a goal every 2nd game and picked un a League Cup runners-up medal losing to Rangers at Hampden Park.. He moved to Morton for the final months of 2002-03 season and his 5 goals helped Morton return to the 2nd Division winning the championship. In 2003 he moved to St Mirren for a season, this was followed by stops at Dumbarton & Raith Rovers. In 2006 he moved into the juniors with Bo‘ness United followed by a spell at Arthurlie.
