Biog1992 Martin Clark

Defender who joined Blackpool straight from school, but soon reeturned north and signed for John Lambie at Hamilton Academical but after failing to make any impact at Douglas Park, he moved to Firhill and joined Clyde managed by his father ex Celtic and Scotland player John Clark. Two seasons and just over 50 first team appearances at Clyde helped him find his form,, and the scouts came calling. He signed for Brian Cloughs Nottingham Forrest for a reported fee of £100,000. He failed to make the first XI at Forrest and loan spells followed at Falkirk (managed by Jim Duffy) and Mansfield Town.

He made the move to Mansfield Town perment in 1990 spending 2 seaons in the English 3rd Division. He moved to newly promoted Thistle in 1992 and started well at centre half, but the signing of Willie Jamieson limited his first team appearances. Midway through the following season he joined Clyde at Broadwood, staying for 18 months. In 1996 he moved south to Conference side Macclesfield Town for a short spell before finishing his league career with Albion Rovers.

In 1997 he moved into the Juniors with Armadale Thistle, Then has spells managing Blantyre Vics and East Kilbride Thistle. In 2004 he was appointed assistant manager at Morton where he stayed for 4 seasons, he held the same position briefly at East Stirling in 2008. He returned to coaching the Celtic Under 16 side in 2008 a position he also held between 2002-04.
