Gordon Lennon, who died in a car crash on 7 June aged 26, was the captain of Dumbarton, who won the Scottish Third Division title last month when they beat Annan Athletic 3-1 on the final day of the season. Lennon, a 6ft 1in defender, was born in Larne, Northern Ireland, in February 1983, but was a product of the Harmony Row Youth Club in Glasgow. He signed for Dumbarton in January 2008 from Partick Thistle, who had loaned him to Stenhousemuir. Before that he played for Albion Rovers, where he was player of the year in 2006-7. Lennon died in an off-road crash near Dingwall while on holiday with his family in the Highlands.
