- On the 19th November, 1957, the village of Muirkirk (The birthplace of Jimmy Davidson) suffered what every miningcommunity in the land dreaded—a disaster at the local Colliery. And so this wasthe case at Kames Colliery on that fateful Tuesday night when 17 local men died.
